What Do I Wear to Class?
Pole Dancing & Chair Dancing:
Whatever makes you feel good! Most ladies like to start out in some sort of workout pant or short and t-shirt or tank top, then change into something a bit more sexy
(skirt, outfit and heels for example) after the warm up. As you move
into the more advanced pole moves it becomes necessary to have bare
legs and arms so you can better grip the pole. This is where shorts
or hot-pants and a tank top can come in handy. Pole Dance and Chair Dance Classes are done in bare feet or heels—your choice! Our instructors recommend at least trying high heels. It will completely change your experience and increase your work out as all your legs muscles stay engaged throughout the class. Can you say Hot Legs?
Hula:
Aloha! It's bare feet for this class... Laura requests that you wear a sarong and a tank top or t shirt for Hula Dance Class. This will allow her to watch your hips and make sure you've got the moves down correctly! Grass Skirts and Pa'u Skirts can come out for performances and exhibitions.
Mahalo!
Belly Dancing:
The only requirement in this class are zills (finger cymbals) and bare feet. Most ladies in this class also choose to wear a hip scarf, over a flowing skirt, to enhance the experience of shaking those hips! It is up to you if you want to bare your belly or not! We carry zills, hip scarves and more in our boutique--so no worries! You may also want to throw in a pair of work-out pants in your bag for the cool down at the end of class. Some of those stretches are a little more comfortable when you're not in a skirt!
Zumba:
Feel free to wear anything that is comfortable that you can move
in. It is a Cardio workout though, so make sure you have
layers you can remove as your body heats up. As for footwear you
will do best with an Aerobics shoe built for lateral motion as
opposed to a running shoe. A shoe with a slippery sole will work
better than one with good traction. Bbare feet are
fine if that's your preference. It would be very much appreciated if
you do not wear your street shoes, to keep the studio floor nice and
clean for everyone. Thank You!
When should I arrive?
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. This will allow you plenty of time to sign in, use the bathroom etc. Classes will begin on time, and the door might be locked to ensure privacy and safe, protected environment for students. We’d hate to miss you!
If you want to shop (don’t we all?) please arrive 30 minutes prior to class or plan on shopping after class. Thank You!
Are “Drop Ins” Welcome?
Absolutely! If there is space in a class “drop ins” can join at any time. We’d love to have you! Keep in mind that many of the routines are taught progressively so you will have to pick up where the class is.
How many student to a class?
Classes are kept small. In most cases there will not be more 10-15 people per class. In pole dancing there will not be more than 2 people to a pole.
How are the classes structured?
All classes begin with a warm up to raise the body temperature and loosen up the muscles and joints. This is an important step to preventing injuries! The warm up includes moves that will be repeated later in the class, as well as stretches for flexibility. The main body of the class will be learning a routine (pole or chair) over a
5 class period. A brief cool down will close each class.
